ASQA has the power to take regulatory action against RTOs that do not meet the standards, including cancelling or suspending their registration, imposing conditions on their registration, or issuing infringement notices or other sanctions. This ensures that RTOs are held accountable for the quality of their training and assessment practices, and that students can be confident that they are receiving a high-quality education from a reputable provider.

The Compliance Manager's Role in RTO Auditing

The compliance manager of an RTO is responsible for ensuring their organisation complies with all applicable legislation, regulations, codes and standards. They must also develop and implement internal policies and procedures related to their compliance activities, as well as make sure they are up to date. This includes conducting regular audits to identify any potential non-compliance issues or weaknesses in process or governance.

In addition to conducting regular internal audits, the compliance manager must provide evidence of ongoing maintenance of quality standards required by the Standard for registration when submitting applications for re-registration or credit transfers if their current registration expires or lapses. This evidence can include reports from external auditors who have conducted assessments on behalf of ASQA at least once per year.
